Rapp OptoElectronic specializes in high-performance illumination systems, 2-Photon, and Deep-UV microscopy, microscope modifications, as well as accessories for microscopy. Our strength lies in scientific system components for microscopy, primarily used for photomanipulation and imaging equipment. Drawing on approximately 20 years of expertise in photonic research, we develop high-end custom solutions in close collaboration with our global customers and partners.

HISTORY

Founded in 2001 as the successor to the company established in 1987, Rapp OptoElectronic GmbH traces its roots back to the 1980s, pioneering flash lamp systems for uncaging experiments and other flash photolysis applications as the first manufacturer in the market.

Today, Rapp OptoElectronic is renowned not only for its standard product range for localized photomanipulation but also for broader microscopy and imaging applications. Over time, the company has evolved into a modern and internationally recognized entity, collaborating with numerous prestigious companies and respected research institutes.

COMPANY FOUNDER

Dr. Gert Rapp, the owner, and CEO founded both companies. With nearly 100 scientific publications as an author or co-author in renowned journals for biophysical and neuroscience methods, he built the company on over 15 years of fundamental research experience in Germany at:

• MPIKG (Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Potsdam)
• EMBL (European Molecular Biology Laboratory)
• MPI-MF (Max Planck Institute for Medical Research, Heidelberg)
