Who we are:

npi electronic GmbH develops and manufactures measurement equipment for the life sciences, particularly in physiological and pharmacological basic research. We provide services ranging from the customized design of instruments to the installation of complete recording setups. Our application scientists, with years of lab experience, ensure seamless collaboration of all components, from patch clamp amplifiers to complete in vivo setups, including imaging.

Company info:

The founder of npi, Hans Reiner Polder, developed a new compensating method for intracellular amplifiers during his diploma thesis (TU Munich, c/o MPI for Psychiatry). This method, combined with control theory approaches to increase the measuring range, formed the basis of a new generation of amplifiers and marked the beginning of npi electronic 35 years ago.

Our amplifiers cover all standard applications (EEG, LFP, PatchClamp, etc.) as well as specialized instruments for sophisticated applications. npi's strength lies in the special control and design of our intracellular amplifiers, enabling recording from even the most demanding cells. Our substance application systems (pneumatic or iontophoretic) have been further developed to allow extraordinarily fast and spatially precise applications. Devices for optical stimulation (optogenetics) and fiber-based Ca2+-fluorescence recording complete our product range.

We design and produce our instruments in Tamm, Germany. In-house production and development allow us to regularly customize our standard products to fit the scientists' requirements every time. We develop new recording methods and build prototypes in collaboration with the involved scientists.

npi and teaching: we support practical courses with our knowledge and instruments. We also build special devices for teaching labs.

We design and install complete recording setups, including all required periphery. With 35 years of experience, we have become a benchmark in this field. Our service includes on-site installation, training for users, and long-term support.
